Hi! We’re the Aly’s. I’m Aly Perala (left) and I’m Aly Laine (right). We’re the faces behind Handmade by Aly’s and we wanted to share with you our journey.
We first met in kindergarten when I, Aly Laine, stole Aly’s seat for morning chat. Of course, that isn’t how we became friends, but either way we were blessed with each others presence for the rest of that school year. Eventually, our parents got the same bright idea and signed us both up for ballet classes. Odd circumstances joined us together in that ballet room and by god’s grace we became friends.
As we grew older, we both became interested in different things and eventually went off to separate universities where I, Aly Perala, studied law and I, Aly Laine, studied graphic design and history. When the summers rolled around we held random jobs around Helsinki and saved up for travels around the country.
Since we spent most of our summers traveling, most of our things were almost always packed away in suitcases and backpacks. A problem with that is our beauty products took up most of the room. Typical girls, we know! We tried the travel size thing, but a lot of our everyday beauty products simply didn’t come in travel sizes. 🙁
From there, we started making our own products and putting them in their own travel size containers. A lot of our friends adopted the use of our products in their travel lives and pretty soon the idea of our all natural travel size beauty products spread like wildfire! Shortly after, we created Handmade by Alys, so each of our handmade beauty products could go wherever they were destined to go.
Although, our beauty line originally started with travel size products we’ve expanded and have introduced full size products that are now available in our store! 😀
