Incense and Skin Irritation: A 2020 Study

Posted on April 16, 2020 by alysyla Posted in Uncategorized .

Many people experience one or the other form of incense irritation. Even though there are many incense enthusiasts, there are some that complain about such discomfort when using a certain type of incense. This is one of the reasons why these people use the internet to look for alternative methods to do their incense burning or to find out if it really is the culprit.

Incense, Asthma, and Allergies

You could just prepare the incense for burning yourself and this can help you reduce the burning sensation.

It is also an option that can be effective if done in an area where you will not be bothered by others.

There are also incense mixes available for those who would like to experiment on creating a scent without any research. These are usually made from herbs and oils and they are popular due to the fact that they produce a more potent smell than stick incense.

How does Incense Irritate Skin?

If you want to eliminate your incense irritation, the first thing you need to do is avoid incense altogether. The NHS (National Health Service) released a report detailing the hidden effects of incense inhalation. If your reason for doing this is to save money, then this may not be the case. You should consider alternative ways to do your own incense burning to save some money.

Buying some candles is a good way to get incense and candles at a discount. However, if you have bought several already, you should buy new ones as incense burns out with time. However, this can be a very time consuming job if you have no time to perform it. In addition, there is also the possibility that you will not get the best quality of incense if you make a purchase from the internet.

Have a Skin Sensitivity? Try These Alternate Incense Options

One option is to use a stick. This is a less expensive method but it still requires a little extra effort. Stick incense is usually used in religious ceremonies and they will burn the stick right in front of them or they can even place it under their nose and inhale the scent.

Another option is incense waterfalls like this one:

However, you should know that this method is only effective if the aroma is strong enough. When using scented sticks you should make sure you do not mix too many together. It is also advised that you leave them in the open air to dry before using them.

Health Effects of Incense

The health impact of incense is still being studied extensively.

These blends are still very effective when used in a shrine or a ceremony and they are also much easier to use than stick incense. Most of the incense blends sold today come with step-by-step instructions on how to use the blend.

Incense could also cause a burning sensation due to the uneven burning that takes place during the burning process. You could try the use of a mug burner. This can be a great option for those who use mugs regularly or for those who have a small space to accommodate such equipment.

Solutions to Incense Skin Irritation

You can use an incense stick or a bowl burner to burn your scent and the effects can be nice. However, if you use the wrong equipment, it can turn into a pain rather than a pleasure.

It is advisable that you use a mug burner rather than a regular incense. A mug is a portable item and you will not have a big problem locating it or carrying it around.

A mug burner can also be used by people who are less tech savvy or by those who simply do not have the time to devote to research for alternative methods of burning. They can burn their scents in their own homes and do not have to go to a temple to do so.
